Meet the Doctors



Kenneth S. Barrack, DDS

Specialist in Prosthodontics

Dr. Barrack graduated from Emory College in 1981 and Emory Dental School in Atlanta, Georgia in 1985. First, he was a general dentist in the U.S. Navy at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, earning a Navy Commendation Medal for meritorious life-saving action. Then he completed the postgraduate program in prosthodontics at New York University on an Air Force scholarship, becoming a specialist in prosthodontics in 1990. He opened the Carolina Center for Restorative Dentistry in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina in 1995. He is also a South Carolina licensed dental technician.

Experience in Prosthodontics

Dr. Barrack was stationed at Charleston Air Force Base as the staff Prosthodontist, the Chief of Professional Dental Services and the Laboratory Officer. He was a denture care consulting board member for Procter and Gamble Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a consultant, he provided input on denture care products.

Dr. Barrack is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists, the Academy of Osseointegration, the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics, the American Dental Association, Charleston Dental Society and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is a past president of the South Carolina section of the American College of Prosthodontists and a past president of the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics. Dr. Barrack has also authored several articles in the dental literature.

Teacher and Lecturer

Dr. Barrack's passion for his work has led him to teaching other dentists about prosthodontics. He was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Prosthodontics at New York University College of Dentistry and was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Prosthodontics at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Both he and Dr. Patel are co-directors of the Carolina Dental Forum, a Seattle Study Club.

After Hours

Dr. Barrack enjoys athletics, photography and tennis. He is married to Terry Linker, and they have two children, Zachary and Rachel.

Mayur M. Patel, DDS, MS

Specialist in Prosthodontics

Dr. Patel graduated from Davidson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1996. He received his dental degree from West Virginia University in 2001. In 2004, Dr. Patel completed a three-year residency program in the post-graduate Prosthodontics Department at West Virginia University.

Experience in Prosthodontics

During his residency, Dr. Patel conducted research on sleep apnea and earned a Master's degree. He is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics and the American Dental Association. Both he and Dr. Barrack are co-directors of the Carolina Dental Forum, a Seattle Study Club.

After Hours

Dr. Patel and his wife, Marsha, have two daughters, Raena and Maya and a son Dylan. During his free time, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
